Discover Your Passion: Learn to Sail
In Memoriam
In Loving Memory – Lee Pearce
In 2000, Lee Pearce founded Learn to Sail San Diego with the purpose of teaching private ASA sailing courses in order to offer the best learning experience for his students. His vision for Learn to Sail San Diego was to provide excellent instruction, individualized training, and a memorable experience to his students.
He believed that “Being a small business, I can tailor my classes to meet the needs of my students. I only teach private lessons, usually couples and families from out of town who travel to San Diego to live aboard our 2017 37’ Beneteau Oceanis, Tenacious.”
Accolades from Lee’s students extoll his methods, “My family and I took ASA 101 and 103 classes with Lee Pearce at Learn to Sail San Diego and it was wonderful. Lee was the only person we found that would teach my wife, my two older boys, and me, while my two younger children just tagged along. His flexible schedule, his teaching manner, and living aboard his beautiful boat were all the ingredients that my family needed for us to start the sailing lifestyle”.
Lee passed away from cancer in July of 2020. Lee was a close friend to my husband for many years and participated in sailing races together. We were deeply saddened by his sudden passing but feel honored to continue his vision, to offer excellence in sailing instruction to anyone who would like to learn to sail. He will be missed not only by his friends and family but also by our local sailing community who knew him well.
Although Lee is no longer with us, Learn to Sail San Diego honors Lee’s legacy by continuing his good work while providing customized sailing instruction and ASA certification to anyone who would like to learn to sail.
